Renewal programme for the Pallottine priests - 2010 PDF Print E-mail
The renewal programme for the Pallottine priests, organised by the General Secretariat for Formation, took place from 7 to 15 June 2010 with the participation of 20 confreres coming from different Pallottine entities. The meeting was divided into two principal moments:
- from 9 to 11 June: participation in the events organised by the Congregation for the Clergy in the basilicas of St. Paul, St. John and St. Peter;
- in other days: participation at the "Pallottine events" with many conferences, sharing, liturgical celebrations and visit to the Pallottine places in Rome, Camaldoli, Frascati and Grottaferrata.George_Augustin
The Concluding Mass of the Year for Priests, solemnised by the Holy Father, Benedict XVI on 11 June at St. Peters Square was a particularly memorable experience.The principle message of this renewal programme was an invitation to greater fidelity to priestly life and ministry, in accordance with the charism of our holy founder, St. Vincent Pallotti. The meeting was officially concluded on 15 June with a solemn Mass in our Church of SS. Salvatore in Onda, presided over by Rector General, D. Friedrich Kretz.
Also, on this great occasion, one of our confreres, Fr. George Augustin, who is teaching Dogmatic Theology in our University in Vallendar (Germany), personally presented to the Holy Father his new book on priesthood ("Zur Freude berufen" – "Called to Joy", Herder). In this book the author gives some new ideas on priesthood and explains how we can find joy and fulfillment in the priestly vocation today.
