Keeping in mind the XX General Assembly, which will be held from 20 September to 15 October 2010, the General Secretariats have organised the following summer programmes at the International Centre for Pallottine Formation – "The Cenacle" - in Via G. Ferrari 1 (Rome).
• Renewal Programme for the Pallottine priests on the occasion of the closing of the Year for the Priests (7-15 June 2010) [PROGRAM: Italiano - English]
In connection with the celebration of the closing of the "Year for the Priests" organised by the Congregation for the Clergy in Rome, the General Secretariat for Formation will organise a course of ongoing formation for the Pallottine priests who celebrate the 25th and 50th anniversaries of their priestly ordination. The participants, about 20 confreres, will also participate in the initiatives organised by the Congregation for the Clergy.
• IIIrd Meeting of Pallottine Parish Priests (1-8 July 2010) [PROGRAM]
The General Secretariat for Apostolate will organise the IIIrd Meeting of Pallottine Parish Priests, as part of the project for the animation and coordination of the parishes in accordance with our charism and this year the theme will be "Liturgy in the parish context". About 20 confreres will be participating in it.
• Meeting of "Those responsible for Pallottine Formation in UAC" (15-21 July 2010)
The General Statute of the Union of Catholic Apostolate states in art. 11 that the Rector General of the Society is "ipso iure" its Ecclesiastical Assistant and, "taking account of the proposals of the National Coordination Council and with the consent of the General Coordination Council, nominates a person who, in close collaboration with him and the National Coordination Council, has responsibility for ensuring the initial and on-going Pallottine formation of the members of the Union in that territory."
The approved National Coordination Councils are invited to present the nominations for such a responsibility and the persons were chosen. It was considered important, therefore, to hold a Meeting of study and reflection for these persons along with Rector General, Fr. Friedrich Kretz, organised by the President of the General Coordination Council, Fr. Derry Murphy, together with the General Secretariat for Formation.
• "Week of Pallottine Historical Studies" (26-31 July 2010)
The Historical Commission established by the General Council has organised a "Week of Pallottine Historical Studies", addressed mainly to confreres who are engaged in the teaching of history, to archivists, formators and to all those who are interested in deepening their knowledge of the history of our Society and the Union of Catholic Apostolate.
The themes treated will be: the historical times of St. Vincent Pallotti, his missionary inspiration and the development of the Society, some of its recent historical developments, the conservation of the historical memory through the care for archives and the chronicle of the community.
• "Annual Course for the Formation of Pallottine Formators" (30 June 2010 - 30 June 2011)
The General Secretariat for Formation has planned out an annual course of integral formation for the Pallottine Formators from the mission areas, especially Africa. The programme will consist of doing selected courses in the afternoon at the Institute of Theology of Consecrated Life "Claretianum" and other themes of spirituality and missiology at the Urbanian University. In the mornings, the eleven confreres participating in this course will be involved in studying Pallottine themes through conferences, sharing, visits to different historically important places etc.
