Feast of St. V. Pallotti at San Giorgio in Cascia PDF Print E-mail
The annual feast of St. Vincent Pallotti at San Giorgio in Cascia (the place of origin of the Pallotti family) was celebrated on the 8th of May 2011. It was attended by about forty Pallottine fathers and sisters from all the four continents: Europe, Africa, Latin America and Asia. As usual, the feast day was preceded by the holy Tridum, led by Sr. Edward, CSAC. The solemn Eucharistic celebration was presided over by Fr. Almir Roman (SP) from our International College "Queen of the Apostles." The students of the annual course of formators from Via Ferrari and three students priests of the International College Joined in the Eucharistic celebration. Fr. Natale Rossi, the 89 year old priest and a resident of San Giorgio of Cascia, where he is the pastor for 62 years, joined in the celebrations. There was also the presence of the descendants of the Pallotti's family, some of whom came from Rome.
The festive lunch was provided and prepared by the family of Pallotti at St. George. Soon after the lunch the traditional procession was taken out through the village streets with the statue and the relics of Saint Vincent Pallotti. Fr. Stanislaw Stawicki, gave a brief introduction to the procession and led it. The band of Cascia added to the festivities. After the procession, Sister Ignes Burin, Vicar General of the Sisters of the Catholic Apostolate, gave the thanksgiving speech.
