Forty one of the confreres and employees of the General House and of the students of the annual Course of Formation at the Cenacle in Via Giuseppe Ferrari participated in the traditional Easter Trip of the General House, organised for Saturday May 21st 2011. This year the destination was the Shrine of the Holy Face in Manoppello, where the Capuchin friars welcomed us and led us in an explanation of the history and significance of the famous relic which, together with the Holy Shroud of Turin, depicts the true image of Christ. The Shrine, visited in Autumn 2006 by Pope Benedict XIV, is the destination of constant pilgrimages every year. So we were lucky enough to contemplate the Face of the Risen Lord: this icon on canvas "which was neither painted nor woven" in which the Risen Christ appears in all the splendour of his Life. The Rector of the House, Fr. Gilberto Orsolin, presided at the Eucharist which was animated by members of the annual Course of Formation guided by Fr. Stanisław Stawicki. After Mass and the visit to the museum and treasury of the Capuchin monastery the participants enjoyed the fresh clean air of the Parco Nazionale (National Park) della Maiella where they had a picnic. The day ended with a festive dinner at Rocca Priora. |
