The Biannual Assembly of the Union of Major Superiors took place from 27 to 29 May 2009; participants were: the Rector General Fr. F. Kretz and the Consultor General Fr. G. Orsolin. The Assembly analysed and reflected on geographical and cultural changes existing both in the world and in the Catholic Church, what are the consequent challenges and prospects, particularly for consecrated life. The peculiar points were highlighted in the reports made by the representatives of the various cultural experiences. It was noted in particular the shifting of ecclesial growth from Europe to the Southern areas of the world, and the phenomenon of internationalisation of consecrated life communities.
