Appointment of Msgr. Henryk Hoser, SAC PDF Print E-mail

henryk-hoser.jpgThe Holy Father has appointed His Grace Msgr. Henryk Hoser, SAC, so far Assistant Secretary of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples and President of the Pontifical Mission Societies, Bishop of Warsaw-Prague (Poland), preserving the dignity of Archbishop.
We entrust his new pastoral service to the Polish Church through the intercession of our Founder, St. Vincent Pallotti and the Blessed Pallottine Martyrs  Józef Jankowski and Józef Stanek. May Mary, Queen of the Apostles, the Patroness of the Union of Catholic Apostolate, guide and protect him.

His Grace Msgr. Henryk Hoser, SAC, was born in Warsaw on November 27, 1942. After passing the exams of maturity, he continued his university studies at the Medical Academy in Warsaw, where in 1966 he obtained the Diploma in Medicine, obtaining the post of assistant professor at the same Medical Academy.
In 1969 he joined the Society of the Catholic Apostolate (Pallottines) and on June 16, 1974 he was ordained a priest. During the years 1975-1995 he worked as a missionary in Rwanda, where he held various pastoral assignments. In 1978 he founded the Medical - Social Centre in Kigali, guiding it for 17 years, and the Family Training Centre (Action Familiale). He is co-founder and Secretary of the African Federation of Action Familiale, established in 2001.
For some years he was Secretary of the Rwandan Episcopal Commission for Health, and then the Episcopal Commission for the Family, President of the Association of Medical Centres in Kigali (BUFMAR), and head of the Epidemiological Monitoring Centre (AIDS). During the years spent in Rwanda, for a decade he held the office of Regional Superior of the Society of the Catholic Apostolate (Pallottines) and served also as the President of the Conference of Major Superiors of the Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life in Rwanda (COSUMA).
In 1994, in the absence of the Apostolic Nuncio in Rwanda, the Holy See appointed him Apostolic Visitor in this country. During the years 1996-2003, he was Regional Superior of the Society of the Catholic Apostolate (Pallottines) and member of the Missionary Council of the Conference of Major Superiors in France.
On 22 January 2005 he was appointed Assistant Secretary of the Congregation for the Evangelisation of Peoples and President of the Pontifical Mission Societies, and was raised to the dignity of Archbishop; he received the Episcopal consecration March 19, 2005.
