III Ordinary General Assembly of the Union of Catholic Apostolate PDF Print E-mail
From 1 to 4 December, in the Spirituality Centre "St.Vincent Pallotti" at Grottaferrata, Rome, the III Ordinary General Assembly of the Union of Catholic Apostolate will take place on the theme: "From Vision to the Mission".
The ordinary General Assembly, which is, according to the General Statutes the highest consulting and deciding body in the Union, is convoked every three years by the General Coordination Council and is presided over by its President. It is attended with decisive votes by the members of the General Coordination Council or, if not possible, by their substitutes; the General Secretary of the Union; the Presidents of the National Coordination Councils or, if not possible, by their Vice Presidents and the three members, and if that is also not possible, by their substitutes, nominated by the General Coordination Council according to the criteria established by the same General Assembly.
The General Coordination Council addresses those matters which pertain to the internal life and apostolate of the Union and elects with votes the ten members of the General Coordination Council and their substitutes . The deliberations of the General Assembly are brought to the knowledge of those who are interested and, if the approval of the Pontifical Council for the Laity is not necessary, they enter into vigour within the established period of time.
The newly elected General Coordination Council initiates its task immediately and the General Assembly establishes the date within which the President should be elected . Until the election is confirmed by the Pontifical Council for the Laity, the outgoing President, or eventually the Vice President, continues to be responsible for the ordinary administration of the Union and has the right to vote, only if he is elected to the new Council. The new President will succeed Fr. S. Freeman S.A.C who is raised to the dignity of Bishop.
The members of the Assembly entrust themselves to the prayers of the entire Union.
