On May 1st 2011, Divine Mercy Sunday, in the Shrine of the Divine Mercy in Tenango del Aire (Mexico), where confreres of the Annunciation of the Lord Province (PN) work, nearly 17,000 pilgrims coming from different parts of this country gathered. The solemn Eucharistic Celebration was presided over by Mons. Thomas Maria Renz, auxiliary bishop of the Diocese of Stoccarda (Germany) and concelebrated by the Provincial Rector of the Annunciation of the Lord Province, Fr. Adrian Galbas SAC, by the parish priest of Tenango del Aire, Fr. Grzegorz Szmit SAC and by many local priests. The bishop of the local Diocese of Valle de Chalco, Mons. Luis Artemio Flores Calzada (who was not able to be present at the feast because he was in Rome for the beatification of John Paul II) in the homily, prepared for this feast and read by one of the priests, emphasised that: "the experience of the Resurrection of Christ cannot live outside of the community of the Church without vigilance, prayer and contemplation.
The day ended with the Divine Mercy Chaplet prayer, a concert prepared by the girls of the Catholic school of Via de las Niñas and a procession with the statue of the Merciful Jesus through the streets of the town of Tenango del Aire.
