 To mark the occasion of the 75th birthday of Card. Walter Kasper, President of the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity, and a friend of the Theology Faculty at Vallendar, a Symposium was organized there on April 12th. and 13th on the topic “How to think of God and give witness to Him today?” A group of about seventy persons, bishops and theologians, accepted the invitation to attend and the topic was debated together with three hundred guests. The participants were struck by the cordial atmosphere and the spirit of openness in our faculty. Cardinal Kasper, in his address, stressed the great challenge facing Christians in proclaiming the God of the Bible, definitively revealed in Jesus Christ, to a world which considers all religions to be the same. The solemn Eucharistic celebration gave all the participants the opportunity to thank God for His infinite love and to ask for His blessing. |
