On May 12, 2011, the
second annual meeting was organized by the Pallotti Institute in Rome. It took place in the church of San Salvatore in Onda. For the year 2011, as planned, there a series of lectures on "Reviving of faith." Under this theme
Pier Giorgio Liverani, journalist of "Avvenire", presented a talk on the theme,
"Reviving the faith in the journey of the Christian today". The speaker said that from the perspective of faith during the times in which Vincent Pallotti lived and worked, it did not have worse and great challenges than that of today.
The age of Enlightenment, the French Revolution and occupation of Italy and Rome had oppressed and influenced the faith. For St. Vincent Pallotti this was the context of constant concern and worry. He took upon himself the apostolic commitment to revive the faith. There were many suggestions that Pallotti proposed to the believers of his time. His proposal was to propagate the faith by word and deed, to join in the Catholic Apostolate to bring about the revival of faith, to renew the Christian Faith and to spread the truth of the Gospel throughout the world.
In light of these indications of Pallotti, we can raise the following question: "How can we rekindle the Christian faith today?" In response to this question, the speaker first mentioned a few tools that exist in the church today: that is, the teaching of the Church, the pastoral documents of the local churches and the convening of the Synod of Bishops, which will be held in 2012, on "The new evangelization for the transmission of Christian faith "and in particular, he mentioned about the establishment of the Pontifical Council by Pope Benedict XVI to Promote the New Evangelization. Continuing his reflection the speaker described the scenario today which very much needs to be enlightened by faith, culture, in the social sphere, media, economics, science and politics. One should now make great efforts to be always open to the great challenges of our time and to enter into these realms, that is, to speak and to bear witness to the faith. The laity has a very special task in this field; lay Christians are aware of their role, as laity and of their role in the Apostolic Church. This was what St. Vincent Pallotti always dreamed and endeavored, when he encouraged all Christians to live consciously to their apostolic vocation in the Church according to their state and condition of life.
