For reflection during the meetings of study and formation of the year 2010, the St.Vincent Pallotti Institute has chosen the guiding theme: “St Vincent Pallotti, Priest and Apostle”, in harmony with the Year for Priests declared by Pope Benedict XVI for 2009-2010. The meetings will be held, as always, in the Church of SS. Salvatore in Onda in Roma.
St. Vincent Pallotti lived his priesthood in an exemplary way. He did not consider and exercise it merely as a “functionary of the Church”, but always tried to emphasise its spiritual and apostolic dimension. The great dignity of priesthood should be considered– according to Pallotti – as a service to humankind for its salvation. In this sense Pallotti considered every priestly activity as a true apostolate. The theme of priesthood in the vision of our Founder will be developed further during the five meetings which will deal with the questions of life and spirituality of the priests: the Roman priest in the time of Pallotti, priestly formation, collaboration, Marian devotion and the mission of the Ecclesial Movements.
