The second meeting of Institute of St. Vincent Pallotti was held on 2 April and was dedicated to the theme "Word of God in the spiritual formation of Pallotti". The speaker, Jacob Nampudakam SAC, General Consultor of the Society of the Catholic Apostolate, underlined right at the beginning that his reflections were not intended to give only intellectual inputs but should provide spiritual inspiration as sons and daughters of St. Vincent Pallotti. The theme was developed in three parts: 1. Importance of the Word of God for the spiritual life of St. Vincent Pallotti; 2. Indications of Pallotti regarding Word of God for the spiritual formation of the members of his Foundation; 3. Implications of the teachings of Pallotti for our spiritual life today. The research into the writings - underlined the Speaker - showed that Pallotti had an extraordinary knowledge of the Sacred Scriptures. The influence of the Word of God in the spiritual life found expression, above all, in his efforts to imitate the entire life of Jesus Christ as described in the Gospels. He tried "to have the same sentiments of Jesus Christ" (Phil 2, 5) and the life of Jesus Christ was the source of inspiration for his vision of the human person and his apostolic life. Therefore Pallotti recommended to all his followers the life of Jesus Christ as the fundamental rule of their spiritual and apostolic life. The Pallottine formative journey - according to the teaching of Pallotti - should aim at the identification of our lives with the life of Jesus Christ. This indication of Pallotti is strongly in harmony with the teaching of the Church, which invites all the Christians to live a life rooted in the examples and teachings of Jesus Christ and to live according to the values of the Gospel and with greater evangelical coherence.
