Meeting of the Juridical Commission - May 2010 Print
From 26 to 28 April 2010, the meeting of the Juridical Commission was held in the Generalate. One of the principle objectives of this meeting was the preparation of the final draft of the models of elections of Provincial/Regional Councils in the Society of the Catholic Apostolate. This draft was a result of the reflection especially on the materials received on this theme from all the Pallottine entities. The Commission prepared also a draft of juridical norms on the Continental Meetings of the Major Superiors. Both the drafts will be presented, first of all, to the General Council and then at the XX General Assembly. Besides, the Commission has also dealt with some of the juridical themes entrusted to it for further study by the last General Assembly or by the General Council in view of the General Assembly 2010.

Message from the General Coordination Council of the UAC Print

Congresso UAC 2010Greetings to all the sisters and brothers in the UAC!
At this time we give thanks for our enriching and life-giving experiences at the General Congress which took place from 8 to 13 April 2010 in Rocca di Papa just outside Rome. Our presenters nourished us spiritually, intellectually and apostolically through their talks on the vision of St. Vincent Pallotti, what it means to be apostles and his view of mission. Then we were privileged to hear the witness and testimony of members and how they live out the mission of our Founder – in the formation of our members, in the missions abroad, in the lives of young people today, how we serve the local Church and how this mission can be lived out in the family.
Our one-day pilgrimage to Rome on Sunday 11th brought us into physical proximity with places which St. Vincent frequented during his life and ministry. To witness to the world and be part of the sea of UAC members and collaborators at the Sunday Regina Coeli in St. Peter's Square was an especially heart-warming experience. The celebration of the Eucharist in the central church of our faith, as an international UAC family, brought home the message that we are truly a child in union with the universal Church. We belong. Meeting promoted by St. Vincent Pallotti Institute Print
D. Jan KupkaOn 15 April 2010, the second annual meeting promoted by St. Vincent Pallotti Institute in Rome was held on the theme "The priestly formation based on the example of the conferences organised by Pallotti". At the beginning, the speaker – Fr. Jan Kupka SAC – underlined that priestly formation demands continuous updating due to the many challenges that the modern society is facing today. The reflection on this theme was particularly relevant in this Year for the Priests which undertook many initiatives of study and prayer. The whole conference could be summarised under three themes: the priestly formation of Pallotti, his initiatives in promoting the formation of the Roman Clergy and the principle points of Pallotti on priestly formation. Vincent Pallotti, the Roman priest – affirmed the speaker – represented the figure of the Roman Clergy and belonged to a group of well-formed priests in the first half of the 19th century. With doctorates in Philosophy and Theology, he worked for ten years as academic professor in the Sapienza University. He promoted the moral culture by participating actively in the discussion on moral issues. He was convinced that a good priestly formation would be the foundation for the holiness of the priests and for their apostolic effectiveness. He said: "it is not enough that the priests are holy, they must be also learned" (OOCC I, p. 171). Educate and being educated was his way of imitating Jesus Christ who "grew to maturity and was filled with wisdom" (Lk 2, 40). Pallotti, right from the beginning of this priestly ministry, worked hard for the ongoing formation of the Clergy. His initiatives included the Marian Mass for the Ecclesiastics and the weekly conferences of Thursday for the priests, initiated from 1839 in the Neapolitan church of the Holy Spirit. These two initiatives were directed towards the deepening of the understanding of Church doctrines and the spiritual renewal of priests. These steps taken by Pallotti constitute a solid Christological foundation for the formation of priests since it helps to learn to imitate Jesus Christ in collaboration with other priests who are also striving towards the realisation of the same initiatives.

Periodical "Apostolato Universale" - n. 23/2010 Print
Apostolato Universale N° 23In the month of March 2010, n. 23/2010 of the Periodical "Apostolato Universale" was sent out to all the subscribers and Pallottine communities. This issue consists of 80 pages and contains historical information and contributions on the spirituality of Vincent Pallotti. One text of great historical importance is the funeral eulogy of St. Vincent Pallotti. The characteristic note of the Pallottine spirituality finds its expression in the article on the history of the Hospice of Danzia and in the conferences given during the meeting of study in 2009: the figures of Judith and Mary in the spirituality of Pallotti and sanctity in the light of the canticle "Benedictus". This issue is concluded with the Pallottine bibliography and a summary of the thesis on the Mount of Perfection of St. John of the Cross elaborated and spread by Pallotti. We hope that the reading of the texts of this issue may inspire the followers and friends of Vincent Pallotti to revive their union with God and strengthen their apostolic commitment.
