Notizie dal Generalato/Notizie dalle Province/Regioni
On 6 December 2009, the Bishop of the diocese of Jacarezinho (Brazil), Msgr. Fernando Penteado, elevated the chapel of the parish community of Ribeirão Claro into a sanctuary of St. Vincent Pallotti. For the whole month of November, the parish organised an intense programme of spiritual and catechetical preparation. This preparation was concluded with the popular mission organised and realised by a group of Pallottines in Curitiba. The solemn Mass was preceded by a procession. Numerous faithful from the city of Ribeirão Claro and from the neighbouring cities, Pallottines and diocesan priests participated in it. Besides the importance of this sanctuary for the city itself, it has become a place of pilgrimage, very much known in the northern part of Paraná. At the moment it is also included into the “Spiritual Journey with the Rosary" (www.rotadorosario.com.br), which is a project of spiritual pilgrimage and tourism conducted by the diocese, approved by the National Episcopal Conference of Brazil and the civil government. As the Pallottine charism is characterised by the ministry of all the baptised, we hope that the sanctuary of St. Vincent Pallotti in Ribeirão Claro may become a centre for spreading the joy of being missionary disciples of Jesus Christ. Let us hope that the motto “to revive faith and re-enkindle charity” will contribute to the formation of a mature and co-responsible laity in the work of evangelisation in service of God’s Kingdom.

Notizie dal Generalato/Istituto S. Vincenzo Pallotti
On May 12, 2011, the second annual meeting was organized by the Pallotti Institute in Rome. It took place in the church of San Salvatore in Onda. For the year 2011, as planned, there a series of lectures on "Reviving of faith." Under this theme Pier Giorgio Liverani, journalist of "Avvenire", presented a talk on the theme, "Reviving the faith in the journey of the Christian today". The speaker said that from the perspective of faith during the times in which Vincent Pallotti lived and worked, it did not have worse and great challenges than that of today. The age of Enlightenment, the French Revolution and occupation of Italy and Rome had oppressed and influenced the faith. For St. Vincent Pallotti this was the context of constant concern and worry. He took upon himself the apostolic commitment to revive the faith. There were many suggestions that Pallotti proposed to the believers of his time. His proposal was to propagate the faith by word and deed, to join in the Catholic Apostolate to bring about the revival of faith, to renew the Christian Faith and to spread the truth of the Gospel throughout the world. In light of these indications of Pallotti, we can raise the following question: "How can we rekindle the Christian faith today?" In response to this question, the speaker first mentioned a few tools that exist in the church today: that is, the teaching of the Church, the pastoral documents of the local churches and the convening of the Synod of Bishops, which will be held in 2012, on "The new evangelization for the transmission of Christian faith "and in particular, he mentioned about the establishment of the Pontifical Council by Pope Benedict XVI to Promote the New Evangelization. Continuing his reflection the speaker described the scenario today which very much needs to be enlightened by faith, culture, in the social sphere, media, economics, science and politics. One should now make great efforts to be always open to the great challenges of our time and to enter into these realms, that is, to speak and to bear witness to the faith. The laity has a very special task in this field; lay Christians are aware of their role, as laity and of their role in the Apostolic Church. This was what St. Vincent Pallotti always dreamed and endeavored, when he encouraged all Christians to live consciously to their apostolic vocation in the Church according to their state and condition of life.

The annual meeting of the Council of the General Secretariat for the Missions took place in Rome from 1 to 3 March 2011. The main part of the meeting was dedicated to elaborating the principal points of our missionary methodology. The impulse for such a reflection was a letter which the Rector General Fr. The principal questions taken into consideration were: missionary promotion in our communities, Pallottine Missionary Sunday, the decisions of the last General Assembly regarding the missions, economic subsidies for missionaries and students, requests for scholarships. The Secretariat also decided that Pallottine Missionary Sunday of 2011 would be dedicated to the South Korean mission, prepared the programme for the formation meeting for young missionaries which will take place in July in Rome, and established that the next Missionary Congress will take place in Rwanda/Congo in the month of October 2012.
